RAPTAWC RA5 Secure Data Terminal with HF and V/UHF Modem

The RA5 is an ultra-rugged Data Terminal that works with any HF/ VHF/UHF radio to provide data services.

The RA5 is purpose-built for vehicle applications and for situations where PC/PDA and Data Modem functions are required in a rugged integrated format.

The RA5 is suitable for first responders, security agencies, governmental and paramilitary users.





The RA5 has a built-in high performance data modem that connects to virtually any HF or V/UHF transceiver via the audio interface.

The RA5 offers efficient communication in conditions when voice communication is not possible. The intuitive (smart-phone like) user interface allows for rapid deployment of secure messaging applications with minimal training.

The RA5 has a built-in GPS receiver. This facilitates simple Navigation functions, Position Tacking and supports emergency GPS alerts.

RAPTAWC RA2 Secure Voice Modem

The RA2 is a high performance digital secure voice modem. The RA2 is suitable for first responders, security agencies, governmental, paramilitary and even military users requiring voice privacy and asset tracking. The RA2 easily integrates with HF, VHF and UHF radio transceivers via the audio interface. The RA2 is suitable for vehicle and desktop installations.



Beyond-Line-Of-Site (BLOS) communication is vulnerable to eavesdropping due to the vast areas covered. The RA2's built-in AES encryption means that all digital voice and data communications are secured by a trusted algorithm.

The internal Vocoder digitizes the voice. The information is then encrypted and converted to an in-band signal by the data modem. The Vocoder dramatically improves voice quality in adverse channel conditions, extending the range of voice communications. The unit is also capable of detecting plain voice (analogue SSB or FM).

The optional RAPTAWC MessagePoint allows email messages to be sent and received on a connected PC. Emails are securely and reliably transferred over HF. RAPTAWC Gateway software allows email messages to be routed between HF networks and IP networks.

The RAPTAWC CommandPoint Software can be deployed at a base station to monitor the locations of mobile units.

RM2 HF & V/UHF Data Modem

The RM2 is a compact HF and V/UHF data modem for standards-based governmental and NGO communications. The unit is suitable for long distance (up to 10000 km) data communications links. The unit is suitable for use in mobile & marine environments.

The maximum data rate is 9600 bps over a standard 3 kHz HF (SSB) or 96000 bps over a 24 kHz V/UHF radio link.


The RM2 is designed to operate in conjunction with an external STANAG 5066 ARQ server such as the RC50 Email Communications Suite

The unit is intended for installation into mobile or marine environments or to be used as a desktop unit. The RM2 can also be used as a stand-alone raw data modem and ALE controller. The RM2 is a hardware solution offering 2G ALE, MS110A and MS110B in a single package. The front panel (status LEDs) shows the current modem status.


The function of the RM2 is determined by the following software pack:

• M4: HF Modem (SSB, S4539, up to 9600 bps)
• V1: V/UHF (24 kHz, up to 96000 bps)
• V2:  V/UHF (12 kHz, up to 48000 bps)

RM4 HF Modem & ALE Controller


The RM4 is a high data rate HF data modem and ALE controller for standards-based naval and military data communications. The RM4 is suitable for long distance (up to 10000 km) point-to-point data communications. The unit includes a built-in 2G ALE controller (optional).

The maximum data rate is 9600 bps over a standard 3 kHz (SSB) HF radio channel.


The RM4 is designed to operate in conjunction with an external STANAG 5066 ARQ server such as the RC50 RC50 Email Communications Suite. The unit is intended for installation into 19” rack systems or to be used as a desktop unit. The front panel (status LEDs) shows the current modem status.

The function of the RM4 is determined by the selection of a built-in modem software pack:

• M2: HF Modem (SSB, up to 9600 bps)
• M3: HF Modem (SSB, broadcast, up to 2400)
• M4: HF Modem (SSB, S4539, up to 9600 bps)

RM2 MARS Solution

The RM2 is a compact HF data modem with exceptional performance and reliability. The RM2 is suitable for Military Auxiliary Radio System (MARS) operators requiring an 110A data modem.
 

The RM2 benefits from RapidM’s superior technology and experience in HF modem design. The modem features adaptive equalization and is able to deal with in-band distortion. The result is extended range and increased data throughput.

The RM2 is accompanied by the free DataPoint 110A/B Interface Software. This software allows the user to configure and control the modem for basic MIL-STD-188-110A and MIL-STD-188-110B operation. DataPoint also allows data to be tunnelled to/from the MARS Communications Messaging Terminal.

The basic RM2 MARS Solution fulfils the MARS requirement for a 2400 bps MIL-STD-188-110A data modem. The data rate can be extended to 9600 bps (MIL-STD-188-110B) by means of an activation key. Possible future MARS requirements can be added and activated as needed.

The TC4 is a HF data modem module with exceptional performance and reliability. The TC4 plugs into the Icom IC-F8101 Transceiver’s internal provisioned connector. The TC4 installed in the IC-F8101 is suitable for Military Auxiliary Radio System (MARS) operators requiring an 110A data modem.
