TC4-LP HF & V/UHF Modem, ALE and Voice Module

The TC4-LP is a high-performance LF, HF & V/UHF modem, ALE and voice module. The TC4-LP is optimised for low power consumption. The module is suitable for integration into LF, HF & V/UHF radios and other communication equipment. The TC4-LP is recommended for new designs.

For V/UHF operation the maximum data rate is
128000 bps in a 24 kHz audio channel.
 

 
The operation of the TC4-LP is determined by the selection of one of the following software packs:
 

• M1:  LF & HF Modem (incl. ISB, up to 19200 bps)
• M2:  HF Modem (SSB, up to 9600 bps)
• M3:  HF Modem (SSB, broadcast, up to 2400 bps)
• M4:  HF Modem (SSB, S4539, up to 9600 bps)
• W1: HF Modem (24 kHz, 110C groundwave up to 120000 bps)
• V3:  Narrowband V/UHF Modem (up to 16000 bps)
• V4:  Wideband V/UHF Modem (up to 128000 bps)

The following software options are also available:

EF-256 Embedded Functions for Secure Voice & Data

The Secure Voice & Data Embedded Functions EF-256 are intended for integration into radio transceivers and other communication device. These embedded functions are suitable for commercial, industrial, governmental, security, paramilitary and even military communication systems. The Secure Voice & Data Embedded Functions brings high-end digital radio capabilities to any radio design.


 
The internal Vocoder digitizes the voice. The data is encrypted and converted to an in-band signal by the built-in high performance modem. The Vocoder dramatically improves voice quality in adverse channel conditions, extending the range of voice communications. Beyond-Line-Of-Site (BLOS) communication is vulnerable to eavesdropping due to the vast areas covered. Built-in AES encryption means that all digital voice and data communications are secured by a trusted algorithm. The lower data rates feature constant amplitude modulation, while higher rates require less RF power on an SSB transceiver (power control). The SDV function has AUTO DRC (Data Rate Change) capability.

TC4 LF, HF & V/UHF Modem & ALE Controller Module

The TC4 is a high-performance LF, HF & V/UHF modem and ALE Controller module. The module is suitable for integration into LF, HF & V/UHF radios. The TC4 is recommended for new designs. The maximum data rate is 9600 bps full duplex over a standard 3 kHz voice channel and 19200 bps in 2-ISB.

For V/UHF operation the maximum data rate is 96000 bps in a 25 kHz audio channel.


The operation of the TC4 is determined by the selection of one of the following software packs:

• M1: LF & HF Modem (incl. ISB, up to 19200 bps)
• M2: HF Modem (SSB, up to 9600 bps)

RS8 Wideband HF & V/UHF Channel Simulator


The RapidM RS8 standalone unit can simulate HF and V/UHF channel conditions for reproducible performance evaluation of modems and waveforms. It is suitable for the performance evaluation of MIL-STD-188-110C modem solutions. The RS8 is fully controllable via the front panel - standalone unit or remotely via a PC GUI using the RAP1/RIPC protocol.
 

 
HF conditions are simulated using the Watterson-Coon Channel model with some enhancements. These include the addition of radio filters at the input and output, the ability to handle more than two paths (up to 5) and the addition of a time-varying Doppler offset. Wideband bandwidths of 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21 & 24 kHz Can be tested.

A modified Jakes fading model is used to simulate the channel conditions for V/UHF testing. 16 relatively independent Rayleigh fading waveforms are generated and used for this purpose which provides a full scattering parabolic Doppler spectrum. Bandwidths of 25, 12.5 & 6.25kHz are supported and additional transceiver frequency error offset is applied.
