The RC8 ARQ Server & IP Controller is a specialised platform designed for automatic repeat request (ARQ) functions in maritime and strategic long-range (BLOS) communications systems. When integrated with the RM8 Software-Defined Modem and an external link encryptor, the RC8 facilitates robust, secure data and position communication capabilities over HF links, even in severely degraded channel conditions. It supports a wide range of data services, including email, messaging and IP transfer.
The RC8 includes a STANAG 5066 ARQ server for error-free data transfer and is fully compliant with the STANAG 5066 Edition 3 specification. It features embedded STANAG 5066 HF IP and COSS clients, and can host a STANAG 4538 proxy for secure data transfer using the STANAG 4538 xDL modes provided by the RM8.
Various external RapidM or third-party clients can connect to the 5066 server or the 4538 proxy via the RAW SIS protocol TCP/IP interface, allowing multiple applications concurrent access to the HF subnetwork – including the ARQ server, encryptor (COMSEC), modem and transceiver.
Designed for easy integration into 19-inch rack installations, the RC8 comes equipped with standard interfaces suitable for maritime shore and ship-borne installations. It supports fixed frequency and multi frequency networks, leveraging 2G or 3G ALE (Fast Link Setup/FLSU) channel access functions for efficient link establishment and maintenance. Additionally, the RC8 supports bypass mode for legacy (ACP-127/COSS) operations and includes a synchronous balanced DCE port for interfacing with bulk encryption units. This fully integrated system ensures optimal performance and functionality, underpinned by RapidM’s commitment to long-term product availability and support.
