MessagePoint Messaging Software

MessagePoint | Email over HF and V/UHF Networks

MessagePoint is a robust messaging interface that allows users to send and receive messages and files seamlessly over HF and V/UHF radio links when paired with RT and RA modems and terminals. As a Microsoft® Windows® application, MessagePoint features an intuitive interface supporting threaded chat messaging, file transfer, and an integrated address book for quick recipient selection. Users can connect to the radio network through their existing email clients, such as Microsoft® Outlook®, Thunderbird™, and Lotus Notes, via the POP3 and SMTP interfaces. This integration ensures accurate message delivery across the radio network, even in the most demanding operational environments.

In critical situations, such as disaster recovery or tactical operations, reliable information delivery is crucial. MessagePoint ensures rapid and accurate transmission of messages and files with status notifications provided for each delivery using its automatic repeat request (ARQ) protocols. All messages and files are compressed and prioritised for delivery, with automatic retry and resume for undelivered or interrupted messages. The application also optimises each message by compressing file attachments and optionally resizing image files, leading to reduced transmission sizes and faster delivery.

For multi-frequency operation, MessagePoint optionally includes the automatic link establishment (ALE) functions of RT and RA modems, offering flexible communication across various frequencies. Additionally, a comprehensive, time-stamped archive of all sent and received messages allows operators to review communication history and resend any undelivered messages. Designed to support the full range of RT and RA terminals and modems, MessagePoint ensures complete messaging interoperability.

MessagePoint is designed with ease of use in mind, with a straightforward installation and configuration process guided by a step-by-step wizard. The application clearly indicates network activity, including secure digital voice communications, which can be managed on the same channel. The user interface displays the delivery progress of larger incoming and outgoing messages, providing operators a clear overview of network activity and transfer throughput.

Configuration of RT and RA modems is simplified through the System Configuration Software (SCS), which automatically transfers settings from the modem, including the address book, to MessagePoint with minimal operator intervention. The built-in address book functionality allows users to view all network contacts, engage in point-to-point chats, and export contacts to a file, which can then be easily imported into compatible email clients such as MS Outlook®.
