To counter the persistent threat of eavesdropping in radio communications, the RT1 has built-in AES encryption, securing all communications with a trusted algorithm. Users can switch between secure digital voice (SDV) and analogue voice (analogue SSB or FM) transmission by simply pressing the plain or secure button to toggle the modes as needed.
In addition to secure communications, the RT1 features robust tracking capabilities and can be configured to send periodic position updates or to transmit position with voice. These transmissions are easily received and displayed by fielded RT5 units and the TacPoint PC software, which can also retrieve positions from RT1 units when configured. The RT1 further includes dedicated buttons for broadcasting MEDIVAC or ATTACK alerts during emergencies, which are audible to other RT1 users and visible on the TacPoint map display.
Long-range radio communications are often compromised by interference and noise. The RT1 overcomes these challenges by utilising RapidM’s advanced HF modem technology, featuring the latest generation Vocoder modem combination. This technology dramatically improves voice quality in adverse channel conditions and extends voice communication range. The RT1 can further operate in low-latency mode for V/UHF communications or robust beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) mode for HF communications, ensuring optimal performance across various operational scenarios.
